A cute story about a caring attorney who often takes on cases pro bono, who winds up with a client choosing to sue an online dating service – cue the title of the movie, Love, Guaranteed. The client, Nick, has been trying to find love using the internet dating service but has reached the end of his tether. He is also about to reach the very high and scary total of one thousand dates, a number that the website advertises almost like a challenge for themselves. You WILL find love within a thousand dates! But will he find love without the help of this dating resource?

This had all of the great notions that I expect to see in a romantic comedy. The unsuspecting female lead, an interesting guy who comes out of the blue, almost too good to be true, and of course something that might get in the way of the two becoming a couple! I thought that Damon Wayans Jr was a great leading man, with an admirable physique, great charisma and the ability to make you swoon! Rachael Leigh Cook is so sweet, super fashionable and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy her character was to fall in love with too! But… I just found the movie to be quite boring in all honesty!
As far as the story goes female attorney representing a male client suing an online dating company, a romance starts to form and they have to shush it up really quick and get back to suing the company. Then the end finishes up quite fast, with hardly any complications, no twists in the story or unexpected turns. Nada! Zippity! And the cheesy music that accompanies Netflix movies I am sadly not a fan of. As I mentioned earlier it was a lovely story, I just didn’t feel there was enough depth to it. I would have loved for Susan to have more of a background story told. We find out she lives in the house next door to her sister in a building her brother-in-laws family owns, and she’s a pretty badass attorney, but outside of that there’s her choice of car and taste in food. Outside of this it’s a very minimalist character story for the audience to become involved with. Nick on the other hand… he’s been on so many dates, he’s a physiotherapist who does work pro bono (just like Susan!) after experiencing an accident and needing physiotherapy for himself, was engaged to a supermodel before his online dating experiences, busy daily meal schedule of breakfast lunch and dinner in the same restaurants each day, is great with kids, very loving towards others. I’m sure I will have missed something but I’m also sure I’m painting a nice picture for you so no more details necessary!
Anyways as you might have expected we get a happy lovey-dovey ending, yay. I think this is the kind of movie you might watch on a lazy Sunday when you might need a little cat nap.
